Subarus Power-Play Leads Team to 2 Wins over the Rush
The Subz went 2-0 this weekend, defeating the Sydney Mitsubishi Rush 4-2 on Saturday, and 6-3 on Sunday.
Saturday saw the Subarus host the Rush in the first of four games in a row against them. After a slow start that saw them go down 2-0 and outshot 11-6 after the 1st period, the Subaru players found their way and scored 4 unanswered to pick up the win, 3 of them on the power-play. Final shots were 39-25 Subz, final score 4-2. Tristan LeBlanc scored his 1st Career U18 Major Goal, while Zach Jenkins, Elliot Kavanaugh, and Ryan Langlois had the others. Joey Hawco made 23 in the win.
Sunday, the Subarus controlled all 3 periods. Subaru Captain Mercer scored his 3rd Hat-trick in 5 games, including his league leading 14th goal to lead the Subz to a 6-3 win. Kavanaugh, Will Normandeau, and Camden Pellerine also scored. Finals shots were 41-26 Subarus. In his first start since returning from injury, Noah Harvey made 23 saves to get the win.
The Subarus currently sit in 3rd place (18pts, 12gp) in the standings, 2pts ahead of the Wolfpack (16pts, 12gp), and 7pts behind the 2nd place Valley Wildcats, although we have 4 games at hand (25pts, 16gp).
